FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- On Sept. 26, the Alaska Nanooks Athletic Department will be inducting the Nanook Hall of Fame Class of 2015. This year's group comprises of basketball players Cathy Cox and Bart LeBon and two legendary Alaska coaches in Ric Schafer and Al Svenningson.
The annual Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Sept. 26 in the Gold Room of the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel and Conference Center. Fans can purchase their tickets to the banquet by clicking the link here. Tickets are $30 and includes a brunch to go along with the induction ceremony. Doors open at 10 a.m. and the program will run till 12:30 p.m.
This year's class features the school's all-time winningest men's basketball coach (Svenningson), the school's first-ever intercollegiate hockey coach (Schafer), as well as the school's all-time leading scoring for women's basketball (Cox) and a men's basketball player (LeBon) who helped the Nanooks to their first postseason championship. The four were selected by the Nanook Hall of Fame committee, which consists of current Hall of Famers, former student-athletes and former coaches and administrators.
