Kelly Enjoying Success in ESPN's 'The Basketball Tournament'

Former University of Alaska men's basketball player, Andrew Kelly, has made a huge impact in the ESPN sponsored 'The Basketball Tournament', as he has helped his squad, Team 23, to the tournament's Super 17 round, which opens this Friday in Chicago.

Kelly, a two-year player under head coach Mick Durham, and Team 23 will be playing against 7outz, who features former NBA player Marcus Banks and former Xavier University standout Drew Lavender, in the Super 17 on Friday at 8:30 a.m. AKT. The game will take place on the campus of DePaul University and will be webcast live on The Basketball Tournament's website. Click the link here to watch the game.

The former Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 10 points and 3.7 rebounds through three games in The Basketball Tournament for the Arizona-based Team 23. Kelly has enjoyed a pair of double-digit performances in the tournament, including a tournament-high 13 points in the West Regional final to help Team 23 advance to the Super 17. Kelly has yet to miss a field goal in the tournament, as he is a perfect 13-for-13 from the field in the first three contest.

Since his graduation from Alaska in the Spring of 2014, Kelly has been playing professionally on the international circuit with stops in Iceland, Mexico and France.

The Basketball Tournament is a five-on-five, single-elimination tournament sponsored by ESPN. Teams play for a $1,000,000 dollar prize. Each team features a General Manger, a coach and a team consisting of no more than 12 players on its roster. Several former and current NBA players and former college standouts are playing in The Basketball Tournament.
