Nanook Men's Basketball Adds West Valley Graduate

FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanook men's basketball program has added local talent and West Valley High School graduate, Larenzo Graham announced head coach Mick Durham.

"We are really excited to have Larenzo back in Fairbanks for his last two years of eligibility," said Durham. "He's made great strides in his overall game over the past two years and we are looking forward to him continuing that progress as a Nanook. Larenzo is also an outstanding student who will represent the program and the University well."

Graham, who spent the last two seasons playing for West Valley College in Saratoga, California as part of the California Community Colleges Athletic Association, plans on majoring in communications in his time with the University of Alaska.

Last season, Graham averaged 16.3 points per game at West Valley (17.8 ppg in the conference) en route to a selection to the All-Coast South Conference First Team. Graham, also a Scholar Athlete this past semester, shot 39% from the three-point arc as a sophomore and averaged 4.6 rebounds per game.

As a freshman, Graham was named to the All-Coast South Conference Second Team as he averaged 12.4 conference points per game and shot 50% from downtown in conference play (42% overall). He was also a scholar athlete in the fall of 2013.

"Larenzo is the poster-child for how to do things correctly as an athlete," said Graham's former coach, Scott Eitelgeorge. "He has a great drive to improve both athletically and academically and we are very proud to have had Larenzo in our program."

The Nanooks have now added six newcomers to its roster as it heads into the 2015-16 season looking to build upon the successes of last year.
