BOSTON, Mass. – Captain Colton Parayko was named to the 2014-15 All-American Second Team by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) and CCM, announced the organizations on Friday afternoon.
The St. Albert, Alberta-native was named an All-American Second Team player following the 2013-14 season as a sophomore alternate captain.

"He had a tremendous season and he earned the honor of being selected as one of college hockey's top defenseman. Colton displays a high level of character on and off the ice and represents the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Alaska Hockey with pride and great class"
This season, Parayko was one of five Nanooks who played in all 34 games, collecting 23 points overall including six goals and 17 assists. Parayko finished the regular season third on the team in points and second in assists. Within the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), Parayko was second in points for defensemen and sixth overall in assists. The captain also tied for first on the team in power play goals with five. Within the regular season, Parayko concluded with seven multi-point weekends.
Defensively, Parayko lead the team in blocked shots with 67 and ice-time per game. For the second consecutive season, Parayko was named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year and earned First-Team All-WCHA honors.
Off the ice, Parayko took care of things in the classroom being named a WCHA Scholar-Athlete and WCHA All-Academic team also for his second straight year.
The Alaska Nanooks hockey team hosted its annual end of the year banquet last Friday where the junior was tabbed the Shawn Chambers Top Defenseman of the Year, Rick Pitta Most Dedicated Player, Pump House Team Player Award and Fan's Choice Award.
Parayko was drafted by the St. Louis Blue in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft and signed with the organization following the conclusion of the 2014-15 campaign. Parayko is currently playing with their AHL Affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
