FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanook basketball teams close out their respective regular seasons this weekend, each with a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference games at the Patty Center on Thursday and Saturday. The women host Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific while the men welcome Saint Martin's and Western Oregon.
Saturday, the final home games of the season, will serve as Senior Night where Alaska will honor its five seniors: Benissa Bulaya, Kelly Logue, Anthony Reese, Rashaad Allen and Eric Fongue.

The Nanooks kicked off the GNAC portion of their schedule with trips to Montana and Seattle, with both games unfortunately ending in losses. Following those games, Alaska embarked on a six game winning streak extending its best start to a season since entering the conference.
Last weekend, the Nanooks were defeated by Western Washington and Simon Fraser in its final road trip of the season. Five teams are currently chasing the final two playoff spots that lead to the GNAC Tournament, including the Nanooks and Thursday's opponent, Montana State Billings. Wins against MSUB and Seattle Pacific would put Alaska at 7-11 in the conference, and should qualify the Nanooks for the tournament for the first time in their history.

The Nanooks lost a pair of close encounters to the Saints and Wolves earlier this season in the lower-48. Against WOU the Nanooks lost 67-62 and against SMU Alaska was defeated 67-64. Both those games were in early December.
Last weekend, the Nanooks were defeated by Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington. Alaska's last home game, however, was a 87-65 win over Montana State Billings where it made 15 3-pointers as a team.
