@NanooksWBB to Host Alumni Game on Saturday Morning

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team will play its final tune up game for the 2015-16 season on Saturday morning, as they'll take on several members Alaska women's basketball alumni at Alaska Airlines Court. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.

Alaska enters its fifth season under head coach Cody Bench. The Nanooks are coming off one of its most successful seasons in recent history, as Bench led the Nanooks to a 14-14 record and a 6-12 mark in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Alaska returns four of its top five scoring leaders from a year ago, and five players who started 13-or-more games

The Nanooks will take on several women's basketball alums, as Denise Benavides-Webb (2009-10), Janesse Newman (2012-13), Kaylee Hilderbrandt (2010-14), Julie King-McHenry (1990-94), Andrea Durny (2001-05) and Heather Best are all scheduled to appear for Saturday's contest.

Junior Jordan Wilson is the team's top returner, as she was selected to the 2015-16 All-GNAC preseason team. Wilson brings back her team-best 15.6 points per game average. The Colorado native was limited to just 20 games last season due to an injury. Wilson recorded double-figures in all but two games she played in, including a season-best 28 points, which she did twice last season.

Fellow junior Kaillee Skjold brings her team-best 6.6 rebounds per game average back for Coach Bench. Skjold also finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 9.5 points per game average, as the forward picked up a pair of double-doubles last season.

The game is open and free to the public.
