Box Score ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Playing its fourth match in a week, the Alaska Nanook volleyball team lost in three sets to Central Washington University, all by set scores of 14-25, in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play, Thursday night.
The Nanooks (0-13, 0-5 GNAC) now travel to take on Northwest Nazarene University (Idaho) this Saturday. The Wildcats (10-2, 3-1 GNAC) have now won three in a row and improve to 5-0 on their home court.
Central Washington dominated at the net, out-hitting (43-28 kills) and out-blocking (5-2) the Nanooks, while also proving to be more efficient, as the hosts hit at a respectable .389 percentage to Alaska's .172.
Leading the Alaska attack was junior
Sam Harthun who had 11 kills on 28 attacks (.250 pct.) while contributing a team-high nine digs.
Junior
Miranda Grieser conducted the offense with 20 assists and also had a co-match-leading three-service aces and a solo block.
Linda Firethorne was the standout player for Central Washington, as she had 15 kills on 29 attacks (.448 pct) while Kaley Kight played solid defensively, with 15 digs.
Alaska's next match is Saturday, September 27, at 5 p.m. at Northwest Nazarene.
