Box Score 2 PUEBLO, Colo. – The Nanook volleyball team lost in its first two games of the Steel/Silver Classic to Adams State University (Colo.) and Colorado State University-Pueblo, on Friday afternoon.
Alaska (0-6) was defeated by Adams State (3-3) in straight sets by scores of 9, 13 and 22 before losing to the host ThunderWolves (4-3) in three sets, as well, 22, 22 and 20.
Sam Harthun and
Brooke Mattice led the Nanook attack with combined kill totals of 30 and 20, respectively.
Maddie Davis contributed 10 kills through the two games and
Miranda Grieser paced the offense with 54 combined assists.
On the defensive side
Riley Podowicz had two solo blocks and four assists for the day, to lead the team.
The Nanooks will now travel to Colorado Springs, in search of their first win of the season, to face the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Lindenwood University (Mo.). The match against UCCS is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.
