FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanook men battled back from a 29-23 halftime deficit to earn a 62-59 exhibition game win over Portland Bible College on Saturday afternoon at the Patty Center.

Ashton Edwards led the comeback with 18 points, including 13 in the second half to spur the Nanooks to victory. Almir Hadzisehovic contributed 14 points inside for the second team-high.

Bryce Layne led all scorers with 20 points while the duo of Marsellus Gray and Mozeek Waggener each had 12 for the visiting Wildcats.

Alaska was forced to battle throughout the game, as its largest lead was only the deciding three points. Portland Bible came out of the blocks determined, and would lead by as many as 11 points early in the second half. However, the Nanooks would grind the short bench of the Wildcats down and earned the three-point victory.

The Nanooks are back in regular season action in the New Year, as it hosts Great Northwest Athletic Conference foes Western Washington and Simon Fraser on Jan. 1 and Jan. 3 at the Patty Center.
