Three Nanook Sports in Action This Weekend

FAIRBANKS- A trio of Alaska Nanooks teams are in action this week. Nanook hockey and volleyball travel to Anchorage while rifle kicks off its regular season at home against the University of Tennessee –Martin.

Alaska Hockey starts regular season play at the Kendall Hockey Classic with games against the University of Wisconsin and the University of Maine. The Nanooks will play in the first tournament game on Friday evening against the Badgers at 5:07 at the Sullivan arena.

Saturday will feature the Nanook squad taking on the Black Bears of Maine at 4:07 in the team's second and final game of the tournament.

The Nanook volleyball team will also be traveling to Anchorage this weekend to take on Great Northwest Athletic Conference rival, UAA.

This match will conclude the first half of conference play for Alaska, who will then travel to play Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific in the coming week. The Nooks are looking to pick up their third consecutive win, as they are coming off of a weekend sweep of Western Oregon and Saint Martins. The contest is scheduled to begin Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center.

Alaska Nanook rifle is locked and loaded to take on the University of Tennessee-Martin in this weekend's home stanza, and the Alaska Rifle program's first match of the 2014-2015 season.  

The match will start at 8:00 a.m. on both Saturday, Oct.  11, and Sunday Oct. 12. The event will take place at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.
