BEMIDJI, Minn. – The No. 16/RV ranked Alaska Nanook hockey team faces off against Bemidji State to open up the Western Collegiate Hockey Association portion of the schedule The Nanooks are coming off a weekend split against Western Michigan last weekend.
Alaska (5-1-0) will face the Beavers (1-3-0) at 4:37 p.m. on Friday and 4:07 p.m. on Saturday. Both games are available to watch on WCHA.tv with a subscription. The games will also be broadcast by FOX 7 (live on Friday and a tape delay on Saturday, at 8:00 p.m.).

ListenGame NotesWCHA Weekly Release Notes in Brief• The Alaska Nanooks (5-1-0) split their weekend series against Western Michigan University last weekend. The Nanooks won on Friday, 1-0 before losing 4-2 on Saturday.

Sean Cahill earned his first shutout of the season, and second of his career, in the 1-0 win over WMU on Friday. Cahill stopped all 34 shots he faced, including 13 in a frantic third period of play.

Nolan Kaiser scored his first goal of the season in Friday's win. The power play tally was only the second of his career for the senior defenseman.
• In Saturday's loss, another pair of Nanooks recorded their first goals of the season as
Garrick Perry and
Marcus Basara each opened their 2014-15 account. Perry scored on a penalty shot to end the first period, tying the game at one. Basara scored in the third period, to bring Alaska within one (3-2).
• Following their first lost of the season, the Nanooks remained No. 16 in the USCHO.com poll. They are still receiving votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polll.
• Perry leads the Nanooks with 5 points as he as collected four assists and a goal for the young season.

• Bemidji State enters the weekend on the back of a three game losing streak. After a 5-1 win over #2 North Dakota, the Beavers dropped its next three against ND and #1 Minnesota.
• Last season Alaska and Bemidji State played twice as part of WCHA action. In Bemidji, the Nanoos went undefeated with a 3-3 tie followed by a 5-1 win. Back in Fairbanks, the teams split with Alaska winning the first game, 3-0 and the Beavers taking the second, 4-0.
• Overall the Beavers hold the all-time series lead by a slim, 4-3-2 margin. Prior to last season, the Nanooks had not played BSU since back-to-back loses in 1984.
• Last season, the ttwo teams combined to score, on average, 4.75 goals per game. This season, the Nanooks are averigng 3.33. The Beavers, average 2.75.
