Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. - Sophomore outside hitter
Sam Harthun (Oregon City, Ore./Art) completed her second season for Alaska with the fourth-most kills in the program's single-season history as she recorded 15 more in a 3-1 setback against Montana State Billings in Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball Saturday night at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
Harthun's 15 terminations upped her season total to a GNAC-best 435, which surpasses head coach
Mallory Larranaga's 2003 total of 425. It is also the fifth-most kills by any GNAC individual in a single season in conference history. She also had three service aces in her final match of the season.
The Yellowjackets (7-20, 4-14 GNAC) won the 2013 finale by set scores of 17-25, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-15 as the Nanooks (4-25, 3-15) fell for the fifth straight match to end the year.
Monica Grimsrud had 12 kills and five total blocks (three solo) and
Ashlynn Ward totaled 10 terminations to go with her six blocks (one solo).
Chelsey Walter also contributed nine kills and 12 total blocks (six solo) while
Kyndal Williams dished out 35 assists in the win for MSUB.
Billings hit .121 on the night, compared to Alaska's .015 and had 20 team blocks, ahead of the Nanooks' nine. The 'Nooks made nine service aces, to the 'Jackets' six and both teams were error-ridden, with a combined 58 attack errors.

Cassidy Brewer (East Wenatchee, Wash./Business Administration) added seven kills and rookie setter
Katelyn Camp (Newton, Iowa/General Studies) had 30 asissts. Senior outside hitter
Keri Knight (Arvada, Colo./Business Administration) wrapped up her collegiate career Saturday with four kills and a pair of block assists.
The Nanooks will return home and the will have a break for final exams coming up in a few weeks before getting back to work next semester with off-season training to prepare for the 2014 season next August.
