The Lions are fresh of their competition at the Malibu Invitational on Oct. 25-26 where they won nine individual events over the two days. Hannah Calton and Kjirsten Magnuson each won three events as Calton claimed the 100 and 200 butterfly and 200 freestyle while Magnuson hit the wall first in the 50 and 100 free and 100 backstroke. The team also won the 300 free relay with a time of 2:31.00 to complete the weekend.

A member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, LMU opened the season Oct. 12 with a dominant win in the PCSC Invitational in Los Angeles, as the squad placed first in three events. Loyola Marymount is a former member of the PCSC, winning the conference title in 2008. It finished eighth last season and MPSF Championship.

To decide the travel roster for this weekend, the Lions held an intrasquad meet to determine who would be competing against Alaska. A total of 15 LMU swimmers will make the trip to the Last Frontier for the two dual meets.
