FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Alaska Anchorage had four players with at least seven kills Saturday and posted 8 1/2 total team blocks en route to winning its seventh match in a row and sixth in the Seawolves-Nanooks series, topping Alaska 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-10) at the Patty Center.

The Alaska Nanooks were led in kills by sophomore outside hitter Sam Harthun (Oregon City, Ore./Art), who had 13, to go with six digs and a service ace. Freshman setter Katelyn Camp (Newton, Iowa/General Studies) had 28 assists and was 3 for 5 in kill attempts. She also added two digs and a block.

Senior outside hitter Keri Knight (Arvada, Colo./Business Administration) notched her ninth straight match with at least seven kills, collecting eight Saturday and hitting .294 for the match. Knight has hit .298 during the nine-match run, gathering 93 kills and raising her season hitting percentage by 132 points (.066 to .198).

The Seawolves (13-6, 7-0 GNAC) hit .526 for the match, while the Nanooks (3-15, 2-5 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) hit .195. Alaska Anchorage has now won eight of the last nine matches between the two teams dating back to 2009. Julia Mackey had 12 kills and hit .688 for the Seawolves, Katelynn Zanders had nine kills and hit .615, and Erin Braun tallied seven kills with no errors to hit .778 for the match.

UAA took an early lead in the first set that they would never relinquish, going on to win the set 25-16 and take a 1-0 match advantage, but the second set was a different story.

The Seawolves again took an early lead and held on to it, leading by as much as four at 7-3. But the Nanooks stayed close and took their first lead of the match at 11-10 with an 8-3 run, capped by back-to-back kills from Harthun and another from Camp. Alaska Anchorage grabbed the lead back for good with an 8-1 run of its own and won the set 25-17.

UAA used an 8-2 run in the middle of the third set to grow a three-point lead to nine, then closed on a 7-0 run to win the set 25-10 and complete the sweep. The Seawolves hit

The Nanooks resume GNAC play next week with a two-match road trip. Thursday the Nanooks travel to Bellingham, Wash., to face No. 7-ranked Western Washington. The Nanooks cross the border into Canada Saturday when they take on Simon Fraser in Burnaby, British Columbia. Both matches start at 6 p.m. AKDT.
