FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics, in partnership with Sidearm Sports, is please to announce the release of its new athletics website.
This summer, alaskananooks.com underwent a full redesign as can be seen in the new look of the website. It maintains the same content previously available to Alaska Nanooks fans, including news, statistics, biographies and historical information; however, the new site offers a viewer-friendly navigation system and a front-and-center way to showcase the latest news, photos and videos of student-athletes, coaches and the 10 varsity sports.
Alaskananooks.com will continue to serve as an all-access area for fans to find information on their favorite teams and student-athletes. The new website allows fans to continue following Nanook teams via live stats, and video and audio broadcasts for select sports and events.
The most noticeable difference to the new alaskananooks.com is the graphical redesign, where a greater emphasis has been placed to showcase a variety of photos and video, while creating a simplified and fluid overall look. Another significant change can be found in the main navigational setup, which now offers sliding drop down menus with associated links. The navigational reorganization made way for a wider page for images, video and content to fill the width of the site, while maintaining the favorite features of the previous version of the site.
The upgrades also include the ability to play videos and access the composite schedule via the tabs on the main story window of each section without changing pages. There is also a sticky bar at the bottom of the page that remains visible at the bottom of the page as a viewer scrolls up and down a given page and has quick links to Alaska Nanooks live coverage and social media as well as a scrolling banner of upcoming events, which will include live results and scoring updates once events are in progress and links to box scores and recaps following the conclusion of an event.
Photo galleries, which contain select images available for purchase are accessible from every page of the website, as are links to the Nanook Hall of Fame, the Alaska Nanooks Giving & Donations Page, Recruiting information, Live Coverage, Social Media, and Nanook Nation (student rewards program).
Alaska's fans will still be able to follow the Nanooks on their mobile devices via the mobile version of alaskananooks.com as well as on tablets and iPads.
More features are scheduled to be unveiled over the coming months.
The athletic department has partnered with Sidearm Sports as its official website provider since 2009.
