FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska women's basketball team had its first taste of a game atmosphere on Thursday night at the Patty Center with Blue defeating Gold 45-34 in its intra-squad scrimmage.
Blue had solid efforts from multiple players as sophomore guard
Kelly Logue led the team with eight points, three assists and a pair of steals. Senior forward

Benissa Bulaya each contributed seven points, respectively, as the trio combined for 16 rebounds and 14 assists. Junior forward
Samantha Thornton owned the glass with a game-high 10 rebounds to go with her six points.

Taylor Altenburg scored 16 of her game-best 22 points while playing for Team Gold while freshman guard
Brianna Kirk added five points and five rebounds.
Gold led 20-18 at halftime before being outscored 27-14 in the final 20 minutes. The team played a pair of 20-minute halves with running clock.
The Nanooks open the 2012-13 season on Nov. 10 when they host Colorado School of Mines at 7 p.m.
