Box Score
A month back, the Alaska women's basketball team hosted and defeated Central Washington in the team's only win of the season. Saturday saw different results with the Nanooks falling 85-73 in Ellensburg.
Alaska trailed by as much as 18 points in the second half but used an 8-0 run to cut that deficit to seven. With 4:14 to play, Jeni Gabriel knocked down a three to get things started. Nicole Bozek chipped in a layup and free throw and Ciara Patton netted a three of her own.
Bozek led the Nanooks with 17 points. Three other players reached double digits in the loss. Gabriel and Autumn Greene scored 13 each, while Patton collected 10 total points.
Patton was a perfect 3-for-3 in three pointers, continuing a recent emergence as an outside threat for the Nanooks.
Defensively, the team grabbed 11 steals in the game. Bozek and Greene led with three steals each.
Alaska returns home this week and hosts Western Oregon (Feb. 10) and Saint Martin's (Feb. 12).
