Box Score The Alaska women's basketball team (1-21, 1-14 GNAC) celebrated the collegiate careers of its seniors Saturday night with a pregame Senior Night presentation. The graduating seniors include
Jessie Craig,
Caitlin Hamsley,
Jessica Harrison and
Alexandra Melonson.
Unfortunately, the night ended in a 65-57 loss to Saint Martin's (15-7, 9-5 GNAC).
Two of the four shone on the court. Harrison finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Hamsley sank three three-pointers and had a team-high four assists.
Nicole Bozek led the squad with 23 points, matching her second highest total of the season.
The Nanooks headed to halftime down just five points at 32-27, but the shooting of the Saints became overwhelming in the second half. Alaska shot just 25 percent after the break to Saint Martin's 37.5 percent.
The Nanooks never gave anything away. They committed just 13 turnovers, but the Saints were better at the boards and grabbed 54 rebounds to Alaska's 36. They took 14 more shots from the field.
Alaska plays the rest of its schedule on the road. They travel to Simon Fraser (Feb. 17) and Western Washington (Feb. 19) this week.
