FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The No. 5 Alaska Nanook gave their seniors a proper sendoff in their final home match as they got back to their winning ways with a 4,644 to 4,437 victory Saturday at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.
Alaska topped the Engineers 2,314-2,207 in smallbore and 2,330-2,230 in air rifle.
Senior
Cody Rutter led the way in smallbore with a match-high 588, followed by Anna Hjelmvol's 579 and Michael Liuzza's 578.
Cole Bures and
Scott Franz rounded out the scoring team with 569 apiece.
Other Alaska shooters included
Ida Petersen (582),
Aaron Holsopple (573) and
Taylor Beard (570).
In air gun Rutter was tops again, firing for a 586, followed by Bures (584), Hjelmvol (582), Franz (578) and Liuzza (576).
Petersen tied Hjelmvol's mark with a 582, while Holsopple notched a 573 and Beard tallied a 570.
The Nanooks will make preparations for the NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Championships, being held next month (Mar. 10-13) in Columbus, Georgia.
