Box Score The Alaska women's basketball team (1-20, 1-13 GNAC) couldn't hold onto the ball Thursday night, committing 34 turnovers and being out-rebounded 37-29 by a Western Oregon (9-12, 7-6 GNAC) team fighting to sure up a playoff spot.
Nicole Bozek led Alaska's scorers with 12 points, while
Autumn Greene finished with 11. Bozek is averaging 14.4 points per game, ranking third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
To the credit of the Alaska defense, they forced a season-high 31 turnovers, including 11 steals. Their steals match a season high set one game earlier against Central Washington.
The game opened slowly. Neither team scored until Bozek sank a layup at 15:31 in the first half.
Jessica Harrison followed with another to give the Nanooks a 4-0 lead. It would be their only lead of the game.
Alaska hosts Saint Martin's Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The team's seniors will be celebrated with Senior Night, as the night marks the last home game of the season for the women's team.
