FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks rifle team closed out their three-match road trip on a high note, with back-to-back wins at Tennessee-Martin (Friday) and Murray State (Saturday). The Nanooks outshot the Skyhawks 4,633-4,546 and the Racers 4,631-4,546.

At UTM, Alaska outdid the Skyhawks 2,326-2,296 in air rifle and 2,307-2,250 in smallbore.

"Cole (Bures) shot great in both guns including tying his personal best in smallbore," said head coach Dan Jordan. "This (entire match) was done on paper targets, which makes it that much more impressive. It's very hard to do since you have to change your naturla point of aim for every shot."

Today against Murray State, the Nanooks used 2,302-2,291 smallbore and 2,329-2,337 air rifle margins to capture their second win in as many matches.

"After a great start to air gun at Ole Miss, several of them struggled with things today," said head coach Dan Jordan. "There were some bright points though and we have a plan to prepare better for the next trip. They are all optimistic and we will be doing well by the end of the season, I'm sure."

Alaska returns home for two weeks of training before their next three-match road trip in the lower-48. They will make stops at Texas El Paso, where they'll shoot matches against UTEP (Oct. 29) and Nevada (Oct. 30) before finishing up at Texas Christian (Nov. 1).
