COLUMBUS, Ohio - A five-minute major in the first period put the Alaska Nanooks at a three-goal disadvantage early on, and Ohio State went on to add three more goals while goalie Cal Heeter stood on his head to blank the visitors 6-0 in the series finale on Friday night at Value City Arena. The loss dropped Alaska to 3-3-2 on the year and 0-2-2-0 in the CCHA.

Scott Enders assessed a five-minute major for contact to the head and a 10-minute game misconduct at 5:22 of the first period, giving OSU their first man-advantage of the game. Danny Dries scored back-to-back goals in a one minute and 46 second span (7:08, 9:35) to make it 2-0 and Chris Crane followed with a third marker 41 seconds later to go 3-for-4 on the power-play. Alaska got a man-advantage of its own before the period ended, but could not convert. Shots on goal after 20 minutes of play were even at 13 apiece.
The home team widdened the gap in the second period, when OSU's Darik Angeli added a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 2:40. The Blue and Gold got three more power-play chances but Buckeye goalie Cal Heeter and his teammates blocked and turned Alaska's shots aside to keep the Nanooks scoreless and the score 4-0 after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, OSU added two more with even-strength goals by Alex Szczechura and Crane. Despite eight power play chances, Alaska could not solve Heeter and suffered their second conference loss and first shutout of the season at the hands of the Buckeyes.

The Blue and Gold return to Alaska next weekend, when they host the Miami RedHawks (2-6-0, 0-4-0 CCHA) and will look to capture their first conference win of the season.
