No Redemption for Nanooks Against MSUB, 81-60

Box Score The Alaska women's basketball team (1-16, 1-9 GNAC) kept their Thursday night rematch with Montana State Billings (10-8, 6-4 GNAC) considerably closer than they played Jan. 3, but an 81-60 loss is still hard to swallow.

Nicole Bozek opened the game with an easy layup to give the Nanooks their only lead of the game at 19:36.

The Yellow Jackets headed to halftime with a 21-point lead at 42-21. That lead reached 27 points by 17:20 in the second half, but the Nanooks battled to put together a 16-5 run.

Jeni Gabriel converted a three-point play from the foul line to open the run. Autumn Greene continued with a layup at 17:07.

Gabriel added two more to the run on free throws, while Greene sank a pair of layups and another pair of free throws. The run brought the Nanooks within 16 points.

Four minutes later Jessica Harrison netted a layup that put them within 11 points—the closest they'd get in the second half.

Greene and Bozek each finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Ciara Patton finished with 11 points, including three from beyond the three-point arc.

The Nanooks host Seattle Pacific Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Patty Center.
