FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics will host a seawolf taco feed and an Alaska Airline's Governor's Cup Viewing Party at the Patty Center Gymnasium on Saturday, February 26.
The event will pair a taco buffet, which will feature Atlantic Wolf fish aka “seawolf” in addition to beef and vegetarian taco options, with a big screen projection of the final game of the 2011 Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup live from the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. Alaska Nanook fans can eat seawolf for dinner and cheer on the hockey team in their quest to defend their 2010 Governor's Cup title.
For fans looking to partake in the inaugural seawolf taco feed prior to the game's 7:07 p.m. opening faceoff, the doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and food service will run until 7:45 p.m.
The $20 meal ticket includes the cost to eat up the Blue and Gold's biggest rival, watch the Nanooks battle the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on the big screen and non-alcoholic beverage service. Children under 12 years of age receive a reduced taco buffet rate of $10.
For Alaska hockey fans just interested in watching the game on a gigantic screen, the cost to join the party is $5. UAF students, with a valid Polar Express card, can attend the viewing party and watch the game for free. Regular Alaska Nanook event concessions will also be available in the Patty Center foyer.
The dinner and viewing party will also feature a cash bar in a partitioned “wet” section of the gymnasium. Those wishing to consume alcoholic beverages must present a valid ID for access and seating in the “wet” section.
Tickets may be purchased at any remaining Alaska Nanooks home game (men's or women's basketball or hockey) or by phone at 907-474-5977.
