Parrish West matched a six-year old GNAC record for consecutive 30-point games with his fourth in a row Saturday night. West's 34 points knotted him up with Alaska's own Brad Oleson, who set the mark between Jan. 27-Feb. 10, 2005.
He also extended his own record of 30-point games in a season to eight. He's had a streak of three and a streak of four games this season.
But Saturday's game didn't have the showy ending that Thursday's captured. West's Nanooks fell four points short in a shootout with Western Oregon.
Alaska led the game 11 separate times in the first half and headed into halftime up 47-44. There were seven ties in the half.
The Nanooks snapped a 65-65 tie with an 8-3 run that featured a jumper and layup from West. That five-point lead at 73-68 was Alaska's last.
Western Oregon shot 8-for-9 from the free throw line in the final three minutes to maintain the lead and earn the win.
Nico Matthews scored a season-high 14 points.
Jarrett Miller scored 13 and
Brett Barkman added another 12.
Barkman grabbed 14 rebounds, two short of his own season high set in the Alaska Invitational against Arkansas Fort Smith.
The Nanooks (5-10, 2-6 GNAC) host Northwest Nazarene Saturday at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the women's game at 5:15 p.m.
