NWAACC Transfer Whitney Anderson Joins Alaska Hoops

Head coach Cody Burgess announced the Alaska women's basketball team's signing of point guard Whitney Anderson Friday.

Anderson, a 5-4 junior transfer, spent the past two seasons playing for Edmonds Community College in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. As a sophomore, she was named second team All-NWAACC and a conference all-star. She also helped lead the Tritons to their first NWAACC tournament appearance in five years.

Anderson played both basketball and volleyball for Bothell High School in Bothell, Wash., lettering three years in both. As a senior, she was named honorable mention on the All King County team. Her team finished 9-1 that season and was crowned tournament champions.

She is the third NWAACC transfer this season for Burgess.

“I'm really excited about Whitney because she brings a lot of leadership to the table,” Burgess said. “As a point guard, she has the ability to really make my job easier. She played for a very competitive junior college coach, which will help her transition to the GNAC.”
