Nanooks Finish Season with 81-45 Loss to Northwest Nazarene

- Alaska was unable to send seniors Lakeshia Levi (Warner Robins, GA) and Ronisha Edwards (Compton, CA) away with wins as they were out-gunned by Northwest Nazarene 81-45 on Saturday afternoon at the Patty Center.  Levi led all scorers with 24 points, despite Alaska only shooting 27% from the field.

Levi and Jessica Harrison (Las Vegas, NV) led the Nanooks (2-25, 1-15 GNAC) with eight rebounds each.  Harrison was the team's second leading scorer with six points on 3-of-6 shooting.

Northwest Nazarene (19-8, 9-7) had four players score in double-figures led by Brittney Roggenkamp with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Lindsay Brady and Janee Olds both chipped in 12 points and Kristin Hein had 11 points.

Northwest Nazarene took an early 9-2 lead on the host before Alaska cut that lead to only four, 12-8, at the 14 minute mark.  From that point the Crusaders went on a 22-5 run to take a commanding lead and went into the half up 37-19.

During the run Alaska only hit five free throws, was held without a field goal for 10:05, and they went 0-of-12 from the field until Levi hit a three-pointer with 3:45 left in the half.

Alaska made one last-gasp effort to get back into the game at the start of the second half, cutting the Crusaders lead to nine with a 12-5 run.  Northwest Nazarene stormed right back with the next 12 points of the contest stretching their lead to 21.

Northwest Nazarene was aided by 24 Alaska turnovers that resulted in 27 points.  The Crusaders also used 35 bench points to give Alaska their sixth straight loss.

Edwards finishes her Alaska career with 600 points and 383 rebounds in 49 games played.  Levi finishes her one-year stint with 405 points and 213 rebounds in 25 games.

Alaska's season was highlighted by a 72-62 win over Central Washington on February 11, which snapped a 25-game conference losing streak.
