Swimming Completes Day Three of Championships

CANTON, OH – Junior Mariya Pavlovskaya (Korolev City, Russia) was the lone competitor in day three of the NCAA Division-II Swimming Championships and fell short of qualifying for the finals finishing in 23rd place in the 100-yard backstroke.

After winning back-to-back Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 and 400-yard IM she was unable to complete the three-peat at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

Pavlovskaya swam a prelim time of 58.36 seconds, good for 23rd place. In order to qualify for All-American honors a swimmer must place in the top 16. She missed out on those honors by about a half of a second.

Pavlovskaya and junior Felina Rosadiuk (Fairbanks, AK) will return to the pool tomorrow in the last day of the championships. Pavlovskaya will compete in the 200-yard backstroke and Rosadiuk will compete in the 100-yard freestyle where she is seeded 13th of 74 swimmers.
