ANCHORAGE, AK - Alaska got 17 points and seven rebounds from senior forward Lakeshia Levi (Warner Robins, GA), but the 13th-ranked Alaska Anchorage Seawolves pounced on the Nanooks for a 98-46 victory at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex in Anchorage, Alaska.
The Nanooks dropped their fourth straight contest and fell to 2-23 overall and 1-12 in the GNAC as they shot only 25% (13-of-53) from the field and 16% (3-of-19) from behind the arc.
The Seawolves (22-3, 12-2) were led by Nicci Miller and Kelsie Gourdin, who eached scored 16 points. Alaska Anchorage also had 13 players find the scoring column, 10 of which scored sick points or more.
The Seawolves raced past the Blue and Gold by scoring 15 of the first 17 points and never looking back. Alaska Anchorage led 58-25 at the break, and hit 43 field goals en route to shooting 50% for the game.
Denise Benavides (Houston, TX) and Adrienne Beans (Mountain Village, AK) each pulled down five rebounds, despite Alaska being outrebounded 58-33. Senior guard Ronisha Edwards (Compton, CA) and Alexandra Melonson (Seattle, WA) also chipped in eight points each, with Edwards also dishing out five assists.
Alaska will return to action when they host Seattle Pacific on Thursday before sending their seniors off on Saturday for the season finale against Northwest Nazarene.
