LONG BEACH, CA - In the final day of the Pacific Coaches Swim Conference Championships at Long Beach, California the Nanooks saw another two swimmers take home All-Conference honors as
Kinsey Laine (Silver Lake, WA) and
Felina Rosadiuk (Fairbanks, AK) joined
Mariya Pavlovskaya (Korolev City, Russia) as All-Conference performances.
In the first event of the day Laine swam a 17:33.53 in the 1650-yard freestyle, which broke her own personal best time by over 36 seconds. Laine easily achieved an NCAA “B” cut and missed an “A” cut by only one second. The fifth place finish was good enough to earn Laine All-Conference honors by finishing in the top eight.
Heidi Tilicki (Junction City, OR) also swam in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing 16
th overall and narrowly missing an NCAA “B” cut.
Meghan O'Leary took home a 15
th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a finals time of 2:11.64.
Rosadiuk took home a seventh place finish and earned All-Conference honors as she finished with a time of 52.21 in the 100-yard freestyle, which was also good enough for an NCAA “B” cut. Freshman
Kendra Day (Fairbanks, AK) also finished 34
th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.22.
Courtney Nichols (Columbia,SC) qualified for an NCAA “B” cut in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.81, good for 12
th overall.
Kelly Becker (Tualatin, OR) also finished 16
th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:18.32.
The Nanooks 400-yard freestyle relay team just missed an NCAA “B” cut with a time of 3:39.20, manned by
Meghan O'Leary (Seward, AK), Pavlovskaya, Laine, Rosadiuk, which was good for ninth out of 19 teams.
The Nanooks finished the championships with 475 points, good for seventh in the conference behind conference champions from the University of California, San Diego.
The Nanooks will return to the pool on March 10 when they compete at the NCAA D-II championships in Canton, Ohio.
