Nanooks complete day three of PCSC Championships

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks competed in another successful day in the pool on day three of the Pacific College Swimming Conference Championships in Long Beach, California. Mariya Pavlovskaya (Korolev City, Russia) capture an another All-Conference performance as the Nanooks finished seventh in points during the days competition.
 
Pavlovskaya took home a third place finish in the days initial competition, the 400-yard Indivdual Medley, with a time of 4:30.31, less than two seconds off second place finishers Beth Dong and ten seconds off Alexandra Henley, both from the University of California San Diego. Along with Pavlovskaya, Courtney Nichols (Columbia,SC) finished with a preliminary time of 4:38.95 and missed swimming in the finals by only one swimmer.
 
Kelly Becker (Tualatin, OR) brought home an NCAA “B” cut in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.72 seconds and finishing 12th overall. Kinsey Laine (Silver Lake, WA) just missed an NCAA “B” cut in the 200-yard freestyle by swimming a time of 1:59.24 and finishing 16th overall. Meghan O'Leary (Seward, AK) joined Laine in the 200-yard freestyle finishing 23rd with a time of 2:00.36.
 
Both Courtney Nichols (Columbia,SC) and Sarah Meierotto (Fairbanks, AK) raced in the 100-yard breaststroke with Nichols finishing 17th and Meierotto 28th. Nichols barely missed out on a “B” cut by a second with a time of 1:08.58, while Meierotto finished the race with a 1:12.47.
 
O'Leary also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and missed a “B” cut time by only .27 seconds as she finished 12th overall
 
In the final race of the day the Nanooks 400-yard medley relay of Pavlovskaya, Nichols, Becker and Felina Rosadiuk (Fairbanks, AK) took home a fourth place finish with a time of 3:56.15, only four seconds off first place finisher Seattle University.
 
Alaska currently sits seventh overall with 338 points, 81 points behind the University of California, Santa Cruz after three days of competition.
 
Alaska will return to the pool tomorrow morning when they compete in the final day of the PCSC Championships.
