Florida Tech Sinks Alaska Below .500

The Alaska men’s basketball team snapped a two-game win streak Sunday with a 94-75 loss to Florida Tech at the AT&T Jamboree in Anchorage. The loss follows a 21-point rout of Walla Walla in the team’s first game. After being outscored 45-27 in the first half, the Nanooks (3-4) pulled their game together at halftime and came out to finish one point behind Florida Tech in the second half. The half was highlighted by a 12-0 run that cut a 25-point Florida Tech lead to 13. Parrish West led the charge with four layups and a big dunk. West finished the game with a team-high 22 points, second only to Florida Tech’s Justin Sediak, who had 29. Jarret Miller added 12, and Aaron Kohring and Mason King each added 10 off the bench. Sunday marked the first night that King played this season. West also led with six rebounds. Brett Barkman followed with five. The Nanooks head to Nampa, Idaho, to take on Northwest Nazarene Dec. 30. That game tips off at 5 p.m.
