Alaska Shooters Continue Season Streak With Win At JSU

JACKSONVILLE, AL -
The Alaska Nanooks extended their season undefeated streak to four matches with their second road win on Thursday at Jacksonville State University. The Blue and Gold outscored the Gamecocks 4,659-4,610 with a 2,318-2,293 smallbore victory and 2,341-2,317 triumph in air rifle.

"We have a few team members who are shooting well, a couple that are on the verge of shooting well," said head coach Dan Jordan.

Senior Cody Rutter led Alaska's shooters in smallbore with a 584 out of 600, followed by sophomore Cole Bures (582), freshman Anna Hjelmevolle (581), sophomore Scott Franz (574), rookie Michael Liuzza (571) and Aaron Holsopple (567).

Hjelmevolle led the air gun shooters with a 590, followed by Bures (585), Liuzza (584), Rutter (582), Holsopple (580) and Franz (567).

The Nanooks conclude their road trip on Saturday in Columbus, when they take on Columbus State University. this year's host for the NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Championships.
