Alaska Loses to UA Ft. Smith at AK Invite, 93-82

FAIRBANKS, Alaska 
- There were three lead changes that occurred in Alaska's men's basketball game Friday night, and all occurred in the first four minutes of the game. Tied 4-4, the Arkansas Fort Smith Lions sank three layups and never looked back. They went on the beat the Nanooks 93-82 in session two of the IBEW Alaska Invitational.

The loss drops the Nanooks to 0-2 and raises the Lions to 2-0 heading into the third and final session Saturday.

Once again, Parrish West led the Nanooks in offense with 26 points. He gained 12 points from the free throw line after being fouled eight times.

Brett Barkman had a laudable double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds—12 defensive.

Boe Edwards finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Jarrett Miller followed with 12 points.

The Nanooks were able to grab more offensive boards than they were on Friday, and they remained on the positive side of the turnover differential with 16 to UA Fort Smith's 18.

For the Lions, it was Josh Simmons leading the scoring with 21 points. Gavin Glanton followed with 17, and Chris Williams posted his own double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lions (2-0) face King College (1-1) tomorrow at 3 p.m. Alaska (0-2) will match up against West Florida (1-1) immediately afterward at 5:15.
