OXFORD, OH - The No. 13/14 Alaska Nanooks saw their hosts, the No. 3/4 Miami RedHawk, score four goals and they were unable to answer, falling 4-0 Friday night at Steve Cady Arena at the Goggin Ice Center.
The Nanooks could not solve Miami's goalie Cody Reichard, who stopped all 24 Alaska shots. The RedHawks Carter Camper one-timed the game-winning goal past Alaska's
Scott Greenham just 6:50 into the contest.
Just under three minutes later Miami doubled up with a marker from Reilly Smith, who redirected a feed from Camper past Greenham at 9:44.
Miami widened the gap, when Matt Tomassoni buried the biscuit in the Nanooks net to make it 3-0 at 9:54 of the middle frame.
The RedHawks Pat Cannone capped the game scoring while Miami was on the power play, when he sent a centering feed toward the top of the crease and it was accidentally deflected through Greenham's five-hole off an Alaska defender's skate at 16:11.
Neither side found the net in the last 20 minutes of play. Greenham finished the night with 15 saves in the loss, while Reichard made 10 in the third period alone. Miami also scored on the power play for the first time in five games, going 1-for-3, while Alaska was 0-for-5 with a man advantage.
The Blue and Gold will look to continue their recent series trend against the RedHawks and salvage a series split. The teams face off Saturday at Steve Cady Arena with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m.
