The Alaska Nanooks took 48 shots on goal—35 better than their opponents, Bowling Green. That's what it took to pull off another 4-1 conference win on Saturday.
Andy Taranto recorded his second and third goals of the season en route to being named the night's Toyota Player of the game. Taranto netted the first 1:22 into the first period off assists from Cody Kunyk and Kevin Petovello.
The Nanooks added a pair of goals that period, showing the Falcons early on that it was going to be much of the same from Friday night. Aaron Gens put the Nanooks up 2-0 with a score at 6:53 and Adam Henderson followed nearly eight minutes later to put the team up 3-0.
Alaska took 25 shots in the first period alone.
Scott Greenham allowed his only goal in the second period to Bowling Green's Camden Wojtala. Greenham finished the game with 12 saves, including five in both the second and third periods.
Taranto netted the final goal of the night 12:00 into the second. He was assisted by Gens and Petovello.
Petovello ended the night with three total assists. Gens and Kunyk both finished with two and Gens with two. Nik Yaremchuk had the final assist.
The win puts the Nanooks at 5-2-1 (2-1-1-1 CCHA) on the season. It marks the ninth consecutive home win, dating back to February 19. In turn, Greenham also improves to 5-2-1 as the Nanooks starting goaltender.
