Senior Cody Rutter shot a 586 in smallbore, while Cole Bures and Anna Hjelmevoll tied with a 591 in air rifle to lead the Alaska Nanooks to a weekend sweep of the visiting University of Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks.

Alaska's shooters outscored their guests 4,667 to 4,570 (UTM men) and 4,402 (UTM women). The Nanooks combined for a team score of 2,313 in smallbore to defeat the UTM men by 40 points (2,273) and the women by 152 points (2,161). In the air gun, the Nanooks 2,354 outdid the Skyhawk men by 57 points (2,297) and the women by 113 points (2,241).

Bures and Ryan Dunham-Bender were the runner-ups in smallbore with 578 apiece, while Aaron Holsopple  fired a 571 and Michael Liuzza had a 570. Scott Franz and Ida Petersen turned in matching 575s followed by Hjelmevoll (570),  Taylor Beard (568) and Dustin Chesebro (564).

The Nanooks air gun team was rounded out by Chesebro and Dunham-Bender's matching 586s and Rutter's 581. Alaska's individual shooters included Liuzza (579), Holsopple (578), Beard (576), Petersen (574), and Franz (572).

The Blue and Gold will make preparations for their upcoming road trip. They will venture to three different states for three matches, making stops at The Citadel (Nov. 2), Jacksonville State (Nov. 4) and Columbus State (Nov. 6).
