FAIRBANKS, AK – Alaska could not overcome poor shooting in an 86-44 loss to Seattle Pacific on Saturday night in Seattle, WA.
Ronisha Edwards (Compton, CA) collected her second straight 20 point game but served as the only Alaskan to scorer in double-figures in the Nanooks 17
th straight loss.
Seattle Pacific broke open the game with a 20-2 first-half scoring run, turning a 6-6 tie into a 26-8 lead. That was sparked by stretch of hot shooting when the Falcons hit 9-of-10 after starting the game 5-of-15.
Edwards and
Lakeshia Levi (Warner Robins, GA) each scored four points in the first half as the Nanooks only shot 20% (6-of-30) from the field.
Up 37-14 at halftime, Seattle Pacific scored the first 19 points of the second half, as Alaska didn't get onto the board after halftime until 14:26 remained in the game. Seattle Pacific's lead grew to as many as 53 points at 73-20 with 10:09 left in the game.
Edwards finished the contest with 20 points and 10 rebounds with
Jessica Harrison (Las Vegas, NV) chipping in eight points. Alaska finished the game shooting 26% (16-of-62) from the field and turned the ball over 27 times.
The Falcons had 13 players find the score sheet led by Sydney Benson who scored 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting, off the bench. Daesha Henderson scored 10 points, the only other Falcon to reach double figures. Jordan Harazin picked up a career-high six assists as the Falcons shot 49% (34-of-69) from the field.
Alaska will return to the hardwood when they host rival Alaska Anchorage on Wednesday, February 3. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
