Fairbanks, AK- The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team finished the second game of the week without a victory after taking on the Saint Martin Saints at the Patty Center Saturday afternoon. They fell short with a final score, 82-48.
 
The Nanooks have now moved to a 1-14 overall record and are 0-4 in league play. The Saints captured their first victory in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this season, and have notched the eighth spot in the league.
 
At the start, the Blue and Gold remained close with the Saints within the first five minutes. Lakeshia Levi (Warner Robins, GA), Jessica Harrison (Las Vegas, NV) and Denise Benavides (Houston, TX) were among the first to find the hoop for the Nooks, but the Saints soon sparked a rhythm and went on seven point run. Despite Caitlin Hamsley (North Pole, AK) three-pointer a short time after, the Nooks trailed by 14 to end the first half.
 
The Saints left the locker room ready for the second, and never looked back notching in another 26 points to Alaska's 12 to the scoreboard. The Nanooks shot 30 percent from the field and 18 percent behind the arc, while also turning the ball over 15 times.
 
Toyota Player of the Game, Jessica Harrison, shot 7-of-11 in the paint and had the team high 18 total points. Levi had another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Hamsley also found double digit figures in points (13) and was the only Nook successful behind the arc shooting 3-of-10 from down town .
 
For the Saints, Dara Zack, Krissy Bassett, Jamey Gelhar, and Megan Teade were the top scorers with 18, 16, 12, and 10 total points respectively.
 
Alaska will hit the road next week and take on Northwest Nazarene Thursday at 3:15 AST before traveling to Seattle Pacific on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. AST tip.
