Box Score
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Down its top three leading scorers, Alaska's bid for a comeback victory fell short Thursday night against Western Oregon in the first game of a double-header at the Patty Center, 76-63.
Down as much as 30 points in the first twenty minutes, the Nanooks chipped away at the Wolves lead throughout the second half, and were able to cut the deficit to 66-60 with 1:43 to go. However, WOU would close the game with a 10-3 advantage for a 13 point triumph.
With Emmanuel Jenkins and Jon Moe in street clothes, and only getting 11 minutes from Nashorn Maynard, scoring would have to come form different players.
Aaron Jones led the Blue and Gold's attempt at the comeback as he scored all of his 16 points in the second half. He and Colin Matteson were the high point getters for the Nanooks. Colin's younger brother, Evan Matteson, had a career high 11 points while Mike Anderson had nine points and a team high 10 rebounds.
Western Oregon’s Blair Weadon had game high 24 points on 8-12 shooting.
The Blue and Gold (6-18, 3-12 GNAC) conclude their season Saturday afternoon, 3:00 p.m. at the Patty Center when they host the Saints of Saint Martin's on Senior Day.
