Nanooks Drop Rematch With Central Washington

Box Score

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Senior captain Colin Matteson had a season high 24 points in a losing effort as the Nanooks dropped their fourth consecutive game on Saturday to the league leading Central Washington Wildcats 85-71.

CWU took the lead from Alaska at 16-15 and led for the rest of the game, with their biggest lead of 56-42 coming at the 12:44 mark of the second half.

Matteson shot 8-13 from the field and made eight of his 10 free throws. In the process, Matteson moved into 25th place on the Alaska all-time scoring list with 823, and is five points behind Darryl Lewis who scored 829 points in his career.

The GANC&'s second leading scorer, Emmanuel Jenkins, was around his season average with 19 points on 8-15 FG, but it would not be enough as Central Washington had four players score in double figures.

Alaska (6-17, 3-11 GNAC) finishes their season with two games at the Patty Center on March 5 and 7 as they host Western Oregon and Saint Martin's.
