The Nanooks couldn't tame the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers as they fell 113-76 on Saturday.
Emmanuel Jenkins (Tacoma, WA) scored 29 points but the Nanooks couldn't overcome Kentucky Wesleyan's 55% shooting. The loss drops the Nanooks to 2-3 on the season, and they finished 1-1 in the Owensboro Classic.
Parrish West (Chicago, IL) was the first to score, followed by Jenkins, and the Nanooks took a 4-0 lead. However, the Falcons soon answered and both teams juggled back and forth, until the Falcons found themselves ahead by 10 after a seven-point run, in only two minutes. The Falcons continued to run with the lead, and the Nooks finished the first half trailing 53-28. Jenkins led the way for the Nooks for the first, banking nine total points.
Despite the Nanooks efforts, the Falcons continued to push during the second. The Blue and Gold were never able to capture the lead or tie the game. The Nanooks could only manage to bring the contest to as close as 25 as the Falcons shot 58% from the field in the half.
Jenkins finished the night with a team high 29 points, shooting 9 of 16 in the field, followed by West (14), and Melvin Conn-Baird (Indianapolis, IN) (11).
Five Kentucky Wesleyan players totaled double-digit figures in total points. Marico Stinson led the Falcons with 29 points, shooting 9 of 14 from the field, while having all nine of his baskets from beyond the arc.
The Panthers out-rebounded the Nanooks 46-24 while also forcing 19 Alaska turnovers. Kentucky Wesleyan also shot 56% (40 of 72) from the field for the game and made 13 three-pointers.
The Nanooks will return to action on December 11-12 when they host the Glacier Classic. The Nanooks will compete against Grand Canyon College and Grace Bible College in the two-day event.
