Fairbanks, AK - Alaska's bid for a come-from-behind victory fell short on Saturday afternoon at the Patty Center as they dropped another Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest to Western Oregon for the second time this season, this time by 11, 62-51.

Alaska, who trailed by as much as 17 in the second half, used a 15-2 run to cut the Wolves lead to 44-40 with seven minutes to play. However, Western Oregon would respond to the Nanooks' run with an 8-0 run of their own. The gap would be too large for the Blue and Gold to overcome, as the loss dropped them to 0-8 in the GNAC.

Alaska shot just 38 percent in the first half, and missed all five of their three point attempts. They found themselves in a seven-point hole at the half, 28-21.

Once again, foul trouble would come back to bite the Blue and Gold at an inopportune time. Junior Ronisha Edwards picked up her fourth foul with more than 17 minutes to play in the game. Edwards ultimately fouled out with nine minutes to go, and in the midst of their 15-2 run, leaving the five remaining Alaska players to finish out the game. Edwards finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Despite being outscored by 13 in a seven-minute stretch, Western Oregon (8-10, 3-4 GNAC) found a way to break Alaska's backcourt pressure, and was able to hit down their open looks. The Wolves shot 48 percent for the game.

The search for a conference win gets no easier for Alaska (5-12, 0-8 GNAC) as a match up with the number one team in the country awaits them in Anchorage with UAA on Feb. 4. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
