Box Score
Down one at halftime, Chaminade outscored the Nanooks by 26 in half two for a decisive 27 point win over the Nanooks, 99-72.
It was a shootout in the first half in Honolulu between the Nanooks and the Silverswords as the Blue and Gold only trailed 50-49 at halftime. But it would be a tail of two half’s as Chaminade would dominate the second half and cruise to their first victory of the year.
Alaska kept it close in half one with 54 percent shooting from the field. However, the Blue and Gold would go cold in the second half and just make eight of their 26 shots. The Silverswords, conversely, made 69 percent of their shots in half two and ran away for the victory.
Alaska saw Chaminade make 16 of their 26 three-point field goals while the Nanooks would only make six. Chaminade’s Joel Smith made 10 of those 16 three’s and had a game high 35 points.
Emmanuel Jenkins (Tacoma, WA) led the team in scoring with 23 points on 8-18 shooting. He and junior Kevin Buggs (Compton, CA) were tied for the team high in assists with five.
Alaska wraps up their Hawaii road trip with a game at Hawaii-Hilo tonight at 8:30 p.m. ASKT. The Nanooks are still in search of their first victory and now have a record of 0-5.
