Final Stats
Alaska took another tough road loss on Saturday, falling by the narrowest of margins to Seattle Pacific, 3-2 (30-21, 28-30, 30-32, 30-23, 16-14). The Nanooks could hit only -.074 in the decisive fifth game, as the drop to 8-7 on the year, and 2-5 in the conference.
Down 7-2 in the final game, Alaska mounted a 10-2 run to take a 12-9 lead, but could not hold off the Falcons, who fought back to even the score at 14-14 before taking the match's final two points.
Megan Thigpen led the way for the Nanooks, smashing 24 kills and hitting at a .226 clip. Thigpen also had a team-best 19 digs, while defensive specialist Hannah Armstrong also had 18.
Middle hitter Korlyn Bolster was second on the team with 13 kills, and sophomore Jessica Hill also broke into double figures with 12 kills.
Setter Joelle Perez controlled the Falcon attack, finishing with a match-high 61 assists as Seattle Pacific stretch their record to 9-6 (4-3 GNAC). Seattle Pacific's Alyssa Given recorded a team-high 24 kills as well, giving her the school's all-time career kills mark.
The Nanooks now prepare for a four-match homestand, which begins on Oct. 4 against GNAC bottom-feeders Saint Martin's. First serve in that match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
