Nanooks Throw a Block Party

UAF Men's Basketball team opened the regular season strong defeating Walla Walla College 98-71 in front of 647 people at the Patty Center. UAF shot .451 for the game while connecting on 10-24 from behind the three-point stripe. The Nanooks were led in scoring by Brad Oleson and Chris Smith who each had 16 points. Williams had 14, Steve Towne scored 13 and Marquis Revels had 11. Williams and Revels combined for eight blocks on the night tying a school record set against Northeast Missouri State in the 1987-88 season. Williams was also one block short of the individual game record of six. Walla Walla was led by Landon Libby, an Anchorage Native, who had 15 points before fouling out, Tom Duffy and Kris Davies each had 10 points. Duffy also had 3 blocked shots. These two teams will match up again on Saturday at 5:00pm at the Patty Center.
