Senior Patrik Sartz was the top shooter for the Alaska Nanook rifle team in two of three road victories last week at Texas-El Paso and Nevada. Sartz missed the bull’s eye once during his first string of 10 air gun shots and was slightly off target another time on his final string. In between, Sartz nailed at least 45 consecutive 10s and achieved a personal-best 598 out of 600 as the Blue and Gold rolled to a 4,660-4,639 win over the Horned Frogs. He was the second best shooter in smallbore with Sartz with a 578. Saturday, Alaska defeated the Wolf Pack 4,666-4,610, marking their highest team score since they defeated the University of Texas-El Paso in January of 2008. Sartz posted a 593 out of 600 to lead the Nanooks air rifle team and again was second in smallbore with a 580.
