San Diego, CA - Senior Chris Eversman (Salcha, AK) led the way for the Nanooks at the DII Western Regional in San Diego on the men's side, while on the women's side the top finisher was Jana Benedix (Fairbanks, AK).
Eversman finished the 10K race in a very respectable 60th place for the Nanooks with a time of 36:19.7. Just 18 spots behind him was freshman Matt Scerbak (Ann Arbor, MI). Scerbak crossed the line at 37:34.5.
Mitch Chandler (Chattaroy, WA) was third on the team. His time of 40:01.8 saw him finish in 103rd. The top three finishers on the men's side helped the Nanooks to a 15th place team finish.
Only two runners competed on the women's side for Alaska. Junior Amber Drumm (Salcha, AK) accompanied Benedix in the race. Benedix crossed the line in 90th place with a 6K time of 25:25.8. Drum was not far behind as she finished at 26:11.8.
Chico State won both the men's and women's team competition. The top place individual finishers were Chico State's Scott Bauhs (32:15.8) for the men, and Jessica Pixler (20:57.1) of Seattle Pacific for the women.
The Blue and Gold had a solid showing at the Western Regional; however, no Nanook qualified for the DII National Championship in Slippery Rock, PA.
