Bruce Cech is entering his 36th season as the "Voice of the Nanooks" for Alaska Nanook hockey.
A native of Saginaw, Mich., Cech has called over 1300 Nanook broadcasts between hockey, men's and women's basketball and volleyball. He has called games from the Patty Center Ice Arena, Alaska Airlines Gymnasium, Big Dipper and Carlson Center while also calling road contests from Maine to Arizona to Alabama and Hawaii. With that, he's logged over a million miles via plane, train, bus and automobile.
Some of Bruce's highlights include victories against #1-ranked Michigan, Miami and Minnesota in the same season. He also recalls three trips to Joe Louis Arena for the CCHA playoffs, 19 Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup wins against Alaska Anchorage and the Nanooks NCAA berth at the regionals in Worcester, Ma.*
