Matha Hood swam for the Nanooks for four years from 2014-18. As a member of the team, she won the Husky Invite her freshman year and attended NCAA DII Nationals. She was also named the team MVP for 2015-16. Hood broke a 16-year old Alaska State record in the 50-meter freestyle and is part of the relay team that holds the Nanook Varsity Record in the 200-yard freestyle relay. While at Alaska, Hood was a four-stroke athlete specializing in sprint events.
As a student, Hood graduated in May 2019 with a double-major in Psychology and Justice. She graduated cum laude. She is currently a graduate-student studying Education Counseling at UAF. Hood is from North Pole, Alaska and began competitive swimming when she was five years old.
